A Christian recently commented to me that because the Book of Revelation talks about greater natural disasters before the End Times, this is proof that God exists the Bible is true. While I have heard this argument before, it hit me funny this time and I lost my shit.
As the year 2014 draws to a close, I want to talk a little bit about my plans for the coming year. First, I want to apologize for not getting as much content out as I usually do. This is for a variety of reason.
The Holiday Season is here and Christmas is right around the corner. This is the season of gift giving and religious believers often love to give atheists the gift of some apologist’s book that would totally convince us that God is real and Jesus was his only begotten son… if we would just read it and forget everything we know about reality.
The Senate’s report on the CIA’s torture activities has recently been released. Morally, we recognize that torture is wrong and yet so many religious believers have no problem defending their imaginary deity when their religious holy books advocate for eternal torture.
Last week, NASA successfully launched the Orion spacecraft into high planetary orbit and returned it safely to the Earth. Even though this was just a test flight, it still had a great deal of significance to me.
The day after Thanksgiving is when all the retail stores used to start their super sales. I used to love waking up at 3am (or just not going to sleep) and waiting in line for the latest deals. I didn’t really care about the deals themselves most of the time; I just liked the adventure of it all. But now the adventure is gone. Black Friday has been moved back to Black Thursday – also known as Thanksgiving.
A 2012 study published in the journal Science is making the rounds on the interwebs again. In one part of the study, the researchers suggest that they can predict if someone is religious or an atheist based on how the person answers three mathematical word problems. That sounds fun!
I Christian recently told me that the evidence for God is in the stars. Let’s explore that for a moment because I would have gone the opposite way on this. I think that the stars are evidence against Christianity.
Okay, I’m going to say it. I am not a fan of Veteran’s Day. I think most veterans under the age of about 90 are just armed thugs in uniforms (with some exceptions of course).
Yesterday was Election Day and atheists had a rare opportunity to send a powerful message to the political system in the United States of America. There was a candidate in Arizona’s 5th congressional district who was an open atheist. This was our chance and atheists did not deliver.
