Dick Cheney, Jesus, and Torture

The Senate’s report on the CIA’s torture activities has recently been released. Morally, we recognize that torture is wrong and yet so many religious believers have no problem defending their imaginary deity when their religious holy books advocate for eternal torture.

Dawn Of The Future

Last week, NASA successfully launched the Orion spacecraft into high planetary orbit and returned it safely to the Earth. Even though this was just a test flight, it still had a great deal of significance to me.

Black Thursday

The day after Thanksgiving is when all the retail stores used to start their super sales. I used to love waking up at 3am (or just not going to sleep) and waiting in line for the latest deals. I didn’t really care about the deals themselves most of the time; I just liked the adventure of it all. But now the adventure is gone. Black Friday has been moved back to Black Thursday – also known as Thanksgiving.

The Mathematical God Test

A 2012 study published in the journal Science is making the rounds on the interwebs again. In one part of the study, the researchers suggest that they can predict if someone is religious or an atheist based on how the person answers three mathematical word problems. That sounds fun!

The Evidence In The Stars

I Christian recently told me that the evidence for God is in the stars. Let’s explore that for a moment because I would have gone the opposite way on this. I think that the stars are evidence against Christianity.

Not a Fan of Veteran’s Day

Okay, I’m going to say it. I am not a fan of Veteran’s Day. I think most veterans under the age of about 90 are just armed thugs in uniforms (with some exceptions of course).

Atheists Did Not Deliver!

Yesterday was Election Day and atheists had a rare opportunity to send a powerful message to the political system in the United States of America. There was a candidate in Arizona’s 5th congressional district who was an open atheist. This was our chance and atheists did not deliver.

Election Day: The Exciting Midterms

Election Day is like the Super Bowl to me. I love them and now that my term as Minority Election Inspector is up, I thought I would be able to relax this Election Day. Nope, I am now a Democratic Party Committee Person for district and so I will be out there pushing a few of candidates and making sure the Republicans aren’t up to no-good. Despite my heavy involvement here in the suburbs of Philadelphia, I am more interested in what is going on in Arizona on Election Day.

I Was Wrong… For Now

One of the things I love about being a person of reason is that embracing reason over faith often encourages people to admit their mistakes and to change their position on various issues. For starters, most atheists once believed in a deity and have changed their position based on new information. All of science is based on the principle that we don’t have all the answers and that some of the answers we do have might not be completely correct or maybe totally wrong.

Atheist Themed Halloween Costumes

Halloween is such an awesome holiday. People get dressed up in all kinds of scary, sexy, and creative costumes and then give and receive delicious candy and treats. Plus, fundamentalists hate it. All this fun makes fundamentalists go nuts. So while pretty much doing anything on Halloween becomes an attack on Jesus to many believers, I want to know what atheist, humanist, and blasphemous costumes people wear or plan to wear on Halloween.
