Oprah is at it again. This week’s Super Soul Sunday will feature liberal Christian Rob Bell. Bell is a popular Christian mega-church pastor and author with a mission to bring God into the 21st Century because even Christians are embarrassed by their deity.
I actually like Rob Bell and think that he adds an interesting voice to Christianity. Last year when his book, What We Talk About When We Talk About God, was published, I got the opportunity to conduct an e-mail interview with him. I later reviewed his book.
With that said, he is perfect for Oprah. He is liberal, wishy washy, and feel-good. He can talk about science, but he doesn’t seem to really understand how the scientific method actually works. He may or may not talk about atheism directly, but I am hoping it comes up. I would still like Oprah to address the Diana Nyad situation.
I still stand by my prediction that Bell will de-convert within five years and now I’ll add a controversial claim that Oprah has already de-converted but just hasn’t realize it yet. I predict that she will start to identify with at least the term “agnostic” within five years.
