Today is a federal holiday and as such, most Americans are off of work. It is Labor Day; the day which we take off so that we can appreciate the role of Labor Unions. Labor Unions helped us to create a minimum wage, keep work hours shorter, make sure that people get paid more if they work overtime, protect workers from hazardous working conditions, negotiate for better work benefits, and better wages, and of course Labor Unions help to establish federal holidays. There are many other great things that Labor Unions do also. The point however is that Republicans seem to hate the Labor Unions and have been waging a war to end them.
Republicans should all be working today because they don’t want to celebrate the role of Labor in America. They believe that the ultra-rich built everything by waving a magic wand over their stacks of money and turning it into a fully functioning business complete with roads and an energy grid.
In fact, since holidays are a product of the Unions in the first place, Republicans shouldn’t take any holidays off. That’s just for lazy slackers anyway, right? Real Republicans work 24/7 with no help from the government for anything because any type of government assistance would be socialism, communism, and Nazism according to the Tea Party.
So if you see a Republican today, yell at them to get back to work and then call them a communist who celebrates evil Labor Unions. Then you can relax and enjoy your day off in honor of the Labor Unions. Happy Labor Day!
