    I mean really….

    hat tip to new launches: http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/felix-baumgartner-first-human-to-travel-faster-than-the-speed-of-light-says-msnbc.php

    Let’s see 80 kilo human being (rest mass) accelerates to c in less than… call it 40 kilometers

    v =  a*t

    42 seconds to reach max velocity

    300,000,000 m/s = a * 42s

    a = 1,742,000 m/s2

    or about 174,200 Gs

    In spite of the fact that his entire mass is now crushed into a glowing hot, molecule thin layer of plasma, he still has his 80 kilo mass.  Well sort of…

    Just a reference that I found…
    The relativistic kinetic energy of a 1 kg mass impacting at a velocity of 0.9999999999999999999999999999999999999 c (37 nines)= 2.01×10^35 J. This is about 1,000 times the total gravitational binding energy of the Earth – 2.24×10^32 J

    He hits the Earth at c and instantly his mass (the mass equal to the galaxy) is converted to energy and within 8 seconds, everything within 98 million miles is vaporized… including our sun.  Of course, there will be a spectacular nebula forming, once everything cools down enough to be transparent to most of the visible spectrum.

    Probably nothing left but a quark-gluon plasma for a good hundred thousand years.
