Based on this article, I’m going to say that words are more powerful.
The leaders of 12 Islamic parties in Bangladesh called for protests because some bloggers are blaspheming. What, your god can’t handle this issue himself?
What’s even sadder is that the bloggers in question started AFTER another blogger, Ahmed Rajib Haider, was attacked and hacked to death for “anti-Islam” posts. Since this happened additional bloggers have started posting, some claiming to be Haider.
Now, the religious leaders are all offended (note that no one died on their side) and call for protests and
demanding the execution of bloggers they say were behind blasphemous writings against Islam and Prophet Mohammed.
Wait… what?!?!?
I could have sworn someone said that this was a religion of peace and love. I must have misheard or they were talking about another religion.
OK, OK. The rank and file are probably just normal people and it’s the leaders that are wackos. Except, of course, the protests have turned into riots in Dhaka and police have responded with tear gas and rubber bullets. The end result so far, at least one death, several critically injured people, and many more injuries.
Fierce clashes also occurred in the port city of Chittagong, the northern city of Bogra and dozens of other cities and towns where police fired rubber bullets at thousands of protesters, leaving scores injured, police and local media said.
So much for the ‘just the leaders’ hypothesis.
Seriously, is your god so pathetic that he can’t handle a bit of well earned criticism about his own followers. Someone in that country hacked a man to death in the street because of some WORDS.
You know what. You religious people have the right to be offended. Other have the right to ignore your being offended. Others have the right to laugh at your being offended.
No one has the right to hack a man to death because of what he wrote.
If you disagree with that, then there’s some places you might want to go live. I don’t.
