Vindicating Columbus Day

Columbus Day is usually met with outrage and indignation. This is an oversimplification of a complex matter that can’t —and shouldn’t— be reduced to the atrocities commited by Spaniards more than 500 years ago.

On cultural appropriation

I have the *right* to dress up however I want, and if that offends someone, that’s their problem — I won’t be held accountable for the teeny tiny whiny feelings of other people, just like I don’t hold anyone else responsible for my own feelings.
