• A parody of a modern church service

     

    I haven’t been to church in a while. Guess I’ll have to hit up a few services just to see how accurate this video is.

    However, if memory serves correctly, I noticed a number of familiar aspects in the vid.

    I used to play my violin in a praise band. It was an interesting experience, quite exhausting because the music wasn’t exactly challenging and the mundane repetition drove me nuts. Sheesh, if you didn’t know a song going into it, you DEFINITELY had the thing memorized after you sang it a gazillion times.

    I always found the manipulation of emotions during the music phase fascinating. The minister employed lots of whispering, lots of quiet music, punctuated bursts of sound… all captured quite well in the vid.

    Don’t get me going on the lyrics to this “music.” They were beyond awful. I recall joking with my fellow band mates that if I sang along, it would sound like I wanted Jesus to go steady with me.
