My Flickr page

I have started a black and white photography photostream at flickr under the name stephenwilliamlaw, if anyone is interested…

  1. Why is it that black and white photos seem to capture detail in a far higher way? I suspect it has something to do with the way our eye retina cells work… anyone know?

  2. No I don’t. You’re right though, I think….

  3. I love your “portrait of T and A, taken by window, natural light” and “camping.” You do beautiful work.

  4. Thanks Jackie. Glad you like camping one as I do too, but not many others like it so much.

  5. Stephen – have you read Roger Scuton’s famous essay on why photography is not an art (I only ask since you just addressed something by him). If so, your thoughts?

  6. I love the camping and muddy walk ones, they make me feel very reminiscent 🙂 And the mountain ones look sooo striking in black and white. I’d never lug a big camera all the way up there though- I’m one of the “chop the end of your toothbrush off and eat off a compass” people!Very nice, thanks for sharing them.

  7. Hi Kosh – no haven’t read it – have you?

  8. No I have not read it either, yet. Supposedly his argument is quite neat.
