To the little readership I have managed to accumulate, please standby.
As much fun as it is settling certain people’s hash for good and for ever, I think that we are for is more important than what we are against. The FTB/A-plus stuff has become to the Skeptic/Atheist scene what modern feminism has become to the struggle for women’s rights: corrupt code, no longer serving its original function but crashing a once powerful thinking-engine.
So, time for a reboot or a reinstallation. Starting this week, in a few days time, I am going to begin a series on people we should support, and whom we should read and understand. In effect, this hopes to provide a body of work that can be drawn on to provide strength in what lies ahead.
This brings me to my ultimate quarrel with the You Know Whos. That quarrel is contained in the word victimology. By their own assertion, they are helpless victims of greater powers. By their own assertion, they are powerless and must count on others listening to their tears and tantrums.
Now ask yourself this: what possible use will such people be against a real threat? As things grow darker in the century ahead, how can anyone count on them to hold the line? When the true enemies of the Enlightenment rise, who will be willing to stand firm?
So, please stand-by for my attempts to answer some of these questions. And what virtue is to be found in this upcoming series is thanks to its subjects, all the flaws are mine.
