A while back, musing on the sensitivities of the US atheists, I pointed out what the Christian Right was like in the Old World. Nick Cohen has a good article on the subject of the Golden Dawn’s rise in Greece.
Examining the policy positions of this group, I found the following tidbit:
In 2012, party leader Nikos Mihaloliakos said during an election meeting in Thessaloniki that “We will take İstanbul, İzmir as well as the Black Sea back.” Earlier, Mihaloliakos had said that one day the “Queen City” (Istanbul) will be “liberated”.
Like I say, the US talks about the extreme Christian Right, whereas Europeans do it for real.
