So much for Mitt Romney’s vision of America as a nation comprised of 47% loafing welfare queens. According to some new research, most people who are eligible to receive jobless benefits never even apply for them.
I understand that there are some people out there getting money from the government who don’t need it. We will always have scammers. That said, my general impression of the people around me is that most people are eager to earn their own living and ambitious about making it without any unfair handouts. The common man has enough pride to avoid charity unless he’s really desparate, and enough drive to pull himself to success if he has an opportunity.
This research only drives home the point that Mitt Romney (and the Republican Party in general nowadays) are out of touch with how the common operates and about the reality of life for most people in their own country. He won’t be getting my vote, sorry.
