Announcement: The Transhumanist Reader
The Transhumanist Reader, edited by Max More and Natasha Vita-More is scheduled for publication in late April. This includes a solid essay by me in which I set out my general understanding of (and attitude to) transhumanism. I’m told that it contains a total of 40 essays on transhumanism, or aspects of it. At this stage I haven’t seen the whole book or even a list of its contents, though the editors are major figures in the transhumanist movement (as well as just plain nice people), and I gather that they have assembled a distinguished cast of contributors.
As you’ll see, there’s a hardback and a paperback edition (the latter quite reasonably priced for a large volume from an academic press). Hopefully an electronic edition will also be released.
Obviously I can’t give you a review of the book when I haven’t read it myself (and I’d be biased, anyway, as a contributor). Still, this is one to watch out for. If you have an interest in transhumanism, you just might want to pre-order it. Or maybe wait until further information is available. For myself, I’m excited to have a place in what I’m certain is going to be an important volume.
