Camp Quest Texas was the first opportunity for our firstborn to spend a week away from home, not to mention a solid week around the children of freethinkers. One of his cabin counselors was Zachary Moore, whom you may remember from the Evolution 101 podcast, and who is currently in the midst of the CQTX annual fundraiser.
What makes Camp Quest different than other camps? Dedication to rational free inquiry!
Camp Quest Texas works hard throughout the year to make their Summer Camp a fun and educational experience, allowing campers to grow. They host philosophy discussions (like Socrates Café) where they encourage campers to continuously ask while formulating their own opinions. It’s a Summer Camp that teaches campers how to think, not what to think.
Counselors and other volunteers work hands-on with campers in conducting science experiments, fostering language development, and cultivating a zeal for natural discovery. By encouraging campers to examine and question the natural world around them, they aim to build upon their knowledge and equip them with critical thinking skills that will be applicable long after camp ends.
If you have some money to spare, please consider helping out the children of Texas freethinkers, who have to spend the other 51 weeks a year surrounded by the sort of kids who went to Jesus Camp.
