• Chart of the Week – Cantor/Brat

Even good polls are snapshots frozen in time
Even good polls are snapshots of a single point in time (Vox Populi, June 2nd)

I don’t think any political pundits saw this upset coming, but Neil Munro did have the foresight to characterize Cantor as struggling with a “modest lead” in this column at the Daily Caller detailing the results of a Vox Populi poll conducted on June 2. Evidently the numbers have shifted quite a bit since then, as foretold by an optimistic economics professor from Randolph-Macon College:

“We’re gaining by the day, it’s going great,” Brat told TheDC as he walked on stage for another evening rally in Culpepper. Donations are coming in, and “we’re surging across the board… we’ll win by a few percentage points,” predicted Brat. . .

Turns out they won by 12 points, so maybe his modeling was not quite optimistic enough. Anyone care to speculate on what this might mean for the GOP?
