I’ve written many times before of my distate for giant stone monuments to mythical beings, but for once we have news on that front which is disturbing in a trollishly fun sort of way. Over at Odd Oklahoma, we have the bizarre tale of a mysterious monument to Azathoth (the primordial blind idiot god at the centre of ultimate chaos) which has either been moved by vandals or else “fell out of a hole in the universe and is the belated herald of the nightmare that is to come” and ended up on the lawn of Paseo Grill in downtown Oklahoma City.
Between elaborate prank and token of the apocalypse, I don’t have a strong preference either way, but it’s certainly news worth pondering. Perhaps Jehovah will finally get some stiff competition around here in the graven images department.
