Al Qadeda spokesman and translator Adam Gadahn (aka “Azzam the American, aka a half dozen other aliases) is the only American charged with treason since World War II. Gadahn, born in California, apparently found his life there too rough, I mean, spiritually unsatisfactory, and hence left to live among Islamic militants. He has called for the killing of Americans time and again in the past, and is now gracing us with a new message.
Adam Gadahn, a California-born convert to Islam with a $1 million U.S. price on his head, appealed to wealthy Muslims to offer militants rewards to kill ambassadors in the region, citing bounty set for killing the U.S. ambassador to Yemen, Washington-based SITE monitoring group said.
“These prizes have a great effect in instilling fear in the hearts of our cowardly enemies,” Gadahn said in the 39-minute video recording in Arabic posted on websites used by Islamist militants, according to SITE.
“They also encourage hesitant individuals to carry out important and great deeds in the path of Allah,” he said, in an English transcript on SITE.
What? So the promises of eternal life and 72 virgins don’t work quite as well as cash rewards?
Which is the whole point about militants capitalizing on the sad and most unfortunate death of civilians during attacks on their training grounds: the martyrdom obsessed militants like Gadahn use this as a recruitment tool, while cynically failing to acknowledge that if they behaved less hypocritically and stopped using the civilians as human shields while calling others cowards, there would be no drone war.
