Upcoming appearance: NEPA Blog Fest Fall 2012

I will be attending the upcoming NEPA Blog Fest Fall 2012 event in Pittston, Pennsylvania at 6PM this upcoming Friday. This event happens approximately a week prior to my speaking engagements at NEPA BlogCon 2012 and the 2012 Pennsylvania State Atheist/Humanist Conference. I hope to see you at some (or all) of these events if you are local.

Here is a description of NEPA Blog Fest Fall 2012 from the associated Facebook page:

Bloggers, politicians, and candidates for political office will gather together at Rooney’s, 67 South Main Street, Pittston on Friday, September 21 starting at 6:00 for the Fall 2012 edition of Blog Fest. Started as an informal political mixer over two years ago by local political bloggers Ben Hoon of Gort42 and Joe Valenti of Pittston Politics, it has expanded to become a major networking event for bloggers, blog readers, and those curious about blogging.

Past events have drawn crowds of 100 to 150, including political and non-political bloggers, politicians from every party as well as independents, and those curious about politics and blogging. While originally envisioned as a political event, Blog Fest is not exclusively political, stresses NEPA Blogs founder Harold Jenkins, who along with co-administrator Michelle Hryvnak-Davies is working to attract more non-political bloggers to the event. But since politics affects the lives of everyone in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the level of access that this event gives the people of NEPA should not be overlooked. “Where else would you be able to bend the ear of a state or national Senator? Where else would you get a chance to share your thoughts with your member of Congress one-on-one? And where else will you get a chance to size up candidates while talking with them over a beer?”

“Since its inception two years ago, Blog Fest has been described as the best political event of the season,” says event co-founder Ben Hoon of the political blog Gort42. No speeches are allowed, and the rule is “agree to disagree, but don’t be disagreeable.” Many local and statewide candidates will be attending. Bloggers of all sorts from throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania will be sharing ideas, tips, and stories. All are welcome, and there is no charge for admission.
