• Stoic Philosophy and Motivation

My new favorite Youtube channel is The Stoic Body. I especially love his video on motivation.

His advice that we should find motivation by “focusing on what is really important” is very similar to modern, scientifically backed methods of motivation, like those I have written about: “When I was kicking cigarettes to the curb, occasionally temptation came knocking. When that happened, I would always think about how I wanted improved health and sex appeal more than cigarettes. This technique can be applied to any situation: find the motivators, the things you want more than the bad habit, and remind yourself of those things.”

P.S. He’s also got a video on breaking bad habits here. which nicely summarizes the advice from the scientifically-backed self-help book The Power of Habit.
