I’ve blogged before on the Marshall-Carrier debate, and in particular have been critical of David Marshall’s thesis that all people have a notion of god. Now, Hector Avalos has delivered a powerhouse kick to the face to this claim, resulting in a conclusive K.O.
A common apologetic claim you’ll hear is that there wasn’t enough time for legend to form between Jesus’ death and the writings of the gospels. Kris Komarnitsky has posted an article in Biblical Interpretation that conclusively lays that one to rest. Komarnitsky is the author of Doubting Jesus’ Resurrection, which I would say is the best skeptical book about the resurrection ever written. Every one who is interested in the resurrection argument (for or against) ought to own that book.
I just discovered a website, Christianity Disproved. It is remarkably well done, easy to read, and loaded with good, reliable websites. There’s also uploads of famous nontheistic writings, such as those from Thomas Paine and Robert Ingersoll.
Last but not least: I’m going through some changes in my life that may cause a blogging slowdown soon. Don’t worry, I’ve got several good blog posts scheduled for the future, including a post about what the self is. Until next time!
