Intelligence Unbound – new book with Damien Broderick
My good pal Damien Broderick and I are working on a new book with the title Intelligence Unbound: The Future of Uploaded and Machine Minds, to be published by Wiley-Blackwell. We’re co-editing this, and we’ve put together a strong list of contributors, all of whom should be working on their manuscripts even now: only one is being republished in its original form, some will be based on previously published articles, but reworked for the book, while the majority will be written especially for it.
It’s closed to contributors, so please don’t ask if you can submit something. We’ve gone to a lot of trouble to get our line-up, which turned out to be needed to get a green light for the book. Quite a lot of work is done, but there’s a lot more to go. I’m looking forward to really sinking my teeth into this with Damien, the contributors, and the folks at Wiley-Blackwell.
As we get closer to submitting the manuscript, I’ll announce more about who is in the book: while Damien and I are currently in the process of signing our contracts, I’d like to make sure there are no hitches with any contributors before I announce their names publicly. But I can safely say now that not everyone will be sympathetic to ideas of uploading and machine intelligence, that contributors will come from a range of backgrounds and viewpoints, and that we have some big names in the mix.
