• My new book on OCD is out….and we have a Giveaway to celebrate!

I aOCD coverm very excited to announce the long-awaited (by me, at least) release of my latest book! And to celebrate the release, I’m having a giveaway – details below!

    From the back cover:

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Etiology, Phenomenology, and Treatment provides an introduction to the fascinating world of those with problematic obsessions and compulsions. Some of the world’s leading researchers and clinicians contribute chapters to this volume, which covers everything from the causes of OCD, to how it manifests across different cultural settings, to evidence-based treatments. Both new clinicians and those experienced with the disorder will find useful information inside, as will those seeking to learn more for themselves or their family members.

I was somehow able to convince an outstanding line-up of OCD experts from around the country to contribute to this volume, including Eric Storch, Erika Nurmi, Monnica Williams, and Adam Lewin. It contains eight chapters:

    • What is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder?
    • The Etiology of OCD
    • OCD Symptom Dimensions: Etiology, Phenomenology, and Clinical Implications
    • Cultural Manifestations of OCD
    • A Review of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for OCD
    • Pharmacotherapy in the Treatment of OCD
    • Novel Treatment Approaches to OCD
    • The Impact of the Family on the Treatment of OCD

Immediate past president of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) and professor at Fordham University Dean McKay kindly provided a foreword for the book, in which he says

The arrival of a text that highlights the current state of psychological, pharmacological and family interventions is a welcome addition to the available literature.

Current president of ABCT, editor in chief of the Journal of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders, and professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Jonathan S. Abramowitz has this to say in his review:

Caleb Lack has assembled a terrific volume on OCD that is concise yet thorough. A must read for students, clinicians, and researchers interested in this fascinating and complex disorder, every chapter of this book is clearly written and the authors stick to the most up-to-date scientifically supported knowledge. The chapters on symptom dimensions in OCD and cultural manifestations of the disorder are highlights and make this book unique. It will occupy a prominent place on my bookshelf and become required reading for my students.

One of the things that I am extremely proud about regarding this text is that it is both highly useful and highly affordable. Unlike many academically-oriented texts, we are purposefully trying to keep prices as low as possible to make this information easily available. To give you a comparison, the Kindle version of our book will be $9.99, while the Kindle version of another recently published book on a similar topic is over $55.
