…and my friend CJ is out to find them. He’s started a new site called Odd Oklahoma, where he’s “exploring the weirdness that makes this place interesting.” He’s doing so from a skeptical point of view, and taking on the craziness that bubbles to the red dirt surface of this great state.
As a proud Oklahoman, I would certainly agree that this place has it’s own share of wacky and unusual things. It’s not all Thunder basketball and Cowboy football. From the Bigfoot Festival in Honobia to Robber’s Cave and it’s impact on social psychology, from the runestones in Heavner to the “haunted” locations everywhere, Oklahoma has a diversity of odd many places would envy.
So, go check out Odd Oklahoma, read up on children sliding down stegosaurus backs, mountain lions and Bigfoot, a museum made of dirt, and other wonderful and/or disturbing things going on here. Even if you’re not from these parts, I think you’ll enjoy it.
