• Jesus vs. Trump

Earlier this morning, I saw a video of Donald Trump “joking” about whether to keep non-Christians around:

It really got me to thinking about whether Trump has been living in a Christ-like way. Did Jesus actually have anything to say about wealthy fat-cats who live high on the hog, ensconced in their private jet while the poor blighters suffer below? Turns out, he did. In keeping with the tradition of many English-language Bibles, the (alleged) words of Christ are in red.

“But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.”

Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger.

Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

    capture

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Okay, okay, maybe not everyone. Personally, I’m not a big fan.

    “Love your enemies.

Alas, I have to side more with the Donald than the Son of Man on this one.

Enemies aren’t for loving, especially not enemies like the Islamic State.

“[D]o good to them which hate you.”

“Counterpuncher” is basically the antithesis of doing good to those who hate you, natch.

Perhaps I’m looking in the wrong part of the Bible, but it is really hard to say why conservative Christians have been rallying behind Donald Trump. Wonder which verses they have been looking at.
