Even if you’re already aware of all the usual skeptic podcasts, there is one well-known skeptical podcast that you may well of missed, because it is literally hiding inside of another podcast called The Gist.

Among many other skeptical topics, Mike Pesca and Maria Konnikova have covered the 10% of our brains myth, ESP and other mental powers, the scientific validity of psychoanalysis, the efficacy of cryotherapy, the health effects of standing desks, Paleo dieting, acupuncture, artificial sweeteners, and most recently the alleged dangers of GMOs.
If all The Gist segments fondly known as “Is it Bullshit?” were lifted out of their daily podcast context and reconceptualized as a standalone skeptic show, it would easily rival Skeptoid in terms of listenability. The only problem is that these little nuggets of skepticism are buried inside of a daily show in which Pesca covers pretty much any topic of the day, mostly politics and sport. Which is just fine by me, but perhaps not so much for the skeptic purists out there. Of which you, dear reader, are almost surely not one.
