Today was officially proclaimed as National Religious Freedom Day for 2015, a holiday in honor of the earliest attempts to enshrine freedom of conscience and religious practice into law.
In keeping with personal tradition, I spent a decent chunk of the day combing through the nefarious plans of the Oklahoma Legislature to undermine religious freedom, because fate is not without impeccable timing and an infallible sense of irony.
Next week, the local chapter of Americans United will be hosting our umpteenth annual Legislative Preview, at which we will discuss those bills most likely to privilege the majority religion at the expense of freethinkers and minority faiths. If you live in Oklahoma and care about separation of church and state, I hope to see you there!
