    Google’s ngram tool makes it relatively easy to see when a new word or phrase gains traction in our culture, or at least in print. For example, consider the following interrelated concepts from the field of women’s studies:

    I don’t mean to suggest that one of these variables drove the other one but it does seem likely that the rise of the same school of thought may well have driven them both.
