In yesterday’s post I suggested that the only thing that needs to happen to remedy the fallout from the Burwell v. Hobby Lobby case is for Congress to pass a law amending RFRA so as to make it inapplicable to insurance coverage mandates. Rachel Maddow has provided the counterpoint to my legislative optimism here:
Even if we update the chart to include all 121 Acts of the 113th Congress, they are still on track to become the do-nothingest Congress in the history of Congress.
Maddow went on an epic rant last night, combining the issues of judicial activism on contraception and Congressional inaction in general. It was so damned good, I decided to reshare it here for posterity:
Consider this writer humbly chastised on the possibility of a quick legislative fix. What other options should we consider? Doubling our donations to Planned Parenthood? Boycotting companies which refuse to cover certain contraception? Weaponizing IUD’s so they can be subsidized by our massive defense budget?
