Deval Patrick, the Governor of Massachusetts, has already declared a state of emergency. My town has canceled school for the day. My company has closed offices.
And so the family and I await Hurricane Sandy’s the high winds and drenching rains. Apparently the storm is intensifying. So, I’m off to double-check around the homestead–there’s not much else I can do to protect our little area.
We expect to lose electricity today. The question is when it will come back. I’m impressed by the great preparations being taken by the power companies and the state. Surely, we live in a wealthy nation.
Now for the first-world gripe: Can’t we please come up with a better, cleverer nickname than “Frankenstorm”?
