• Spanish Political Movement Rejects Pseudomedicine

I still don’t know exactly why most New-Age folks are left-leaning. There could be several reasons, and it is hurtful to actual progress.

So you’ve got to get happy about Izquierda Unida (United Left), a Spanish political coalition -it’s not a party yet- which approved an internal resolution rejecting homeopathy and pseudoscientific therapies:

    1. Izquierda Unida is committed to health advocacy from evidence-based treatments and promoting physical, mental and social development of the people.

    2. Izquierda Unida rejects those therapeutic approaches that have not proven effective for different diseases or disorders until there is strong evidence to demonstrate efficacy, as until now with homeopathy, acupuncture and other pseudoscientific therapies.

    3. Izquierda Unida proposes that governments promote education and training of consumers on health and effectively regulate misleading advertising of any supposedly therapeutic procedure that does not have sufficient evidence on its effectiveness.

    4. Izquierda Unida refuses the inclusion of in any medical practice or medicine that has not been proven effective according to an exclusively scientific criteria in the public health system. It also rejects public funding of institutions that promote the spread and dissemination of pseudoscientific therapeutic procedures that confuse the public and endanger it’s health.

But don’t get too excited just yet. That same day, Izquierda Unida approved another resolution, one rejecting mobile-phone antennas, even though there’s no evidence that mobile-phones technology causes cancer.
